Banyuwangi, September 20, 2024 - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate of Destination and Infrastructure Development held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to discuss the acceleration of sea route connectivity between Banyuwangi, West Bali, and Buleleng. The event, which aims to strengthen tourism accessibility in the three regions, took place at IIira Hotel, Banyuwangi, East Java.
In his remarks, the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Hariyanto, emphasized the importance of connectivity between these regions to optimize tourism potential in Banyuwangi, West Bali and Buleleng. According to him, good accessibility is the main foundation for the development of the tourism sector.
Plt. Head of the Banyuwangi Transportation Agency, Taufik Rohman, expressed his support for this initiative. He also said that Banyuwangi already has a number of ports and tourist destinations that are ready to support the acceleration of the sea route.
From a regulatory and technical perspective, the Directorate of Sea Traffic provides recommendations to utilize existing ports, without the need to build new ports. In addition, they also suggested the preparation of a network of sea transportation routes that could support the flow of tourists in the three regions.
KSOP Banyuwangi also highlighted the role of Banyuwangi Marina Boom Port as an entry and exit point for tourist vessels, including yachts. This is in line with the interest of the Bali-Lombok Indonesian Fast Boat Association, which expressed its readiness to participate in this project after conducting a survey and seeing the potential for accelerating travel time for tourists by sea.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Buleleng Tourism Office, Gede Dody Suksma Oktiva Askara, expressed his hope that the acceleration of the “3B” connectivity (Banyuwangi - West Bali - Buleleng) can have a significant impact in strengthening tourism in North Bali, especially in the short term.
With the sea route connected more quickly and efficiently, it is expected that tourist destinations in Buleleng, Banyuwangi and West Bali will be increasingly recognized, both at the national and international levels.
