Buleleng Traditional Village Holds Pengrupukan Festival To Welcome Nyepi Day In Caka Year 1947

Buleleng, March 28, 2025 - In order to welcome Nyepi Day in Caka 1947, Buleleng Traditional Village held Pengrupukan Festival with ogoh-ogoh procession accompanied by fragmentari. The event involved 14 Banjar Adat within the scope of Desa Adat Buleleng and took place lively at Catus Pata, Jalan Gajah Mada, Singaraja, on Saturday (28/3).

The festival was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Ni Luh Enik Ermawati who is familiarly called Ni Luh Puspa, Buleleng Regent Dr. I Nyoman Sutjidra, Sp.OG, Deputy Regent of Buleleng Gede Supriatna, SH, as well as a number of regional officials, including the Regional Secretary of Buleleng, Chairman of the Buleleng DPRD, Buleleng Police Chief, Forkompinda within the scope of Buleleng Regency, Chairman of the Buleleng Regency Traditional Village Council, Kelian of Buleleng Traditional Village, Buleleng Sub-District Head, village heads, and other invitees.

Kelian Desa Adat Buleleng, Nyoman Sutrisna, in his report said that the Pengrupukan Festival was held as a form of yowana (young people) longing for a moment of togetherness in welcoming Nyepi Day after the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that this festival aims to raise the cultural potential of Buleleng Traditional Village and support local government programs in cultural preservation. “The festivals that are held should be more rooted, not just ceremonial,” he said. He also hopes that various festivals in Buleleng Regency can be recognized internationally.

Buleleng Regent Dr. I Nyoman Sutjidra, Sp.OG in his speech expressed his appreciation for the Buleleng Traditional Village's initiative in holding this event. He emphasized that the Buleleng Regency Government fully supports this festival and hopes that it can continue in the future. Buleleng Regency Government also plans to develop the Pengrupukan Festival in all traditional villages in Buleleng Regency, totaling around 166 traditional villages, so that they can participate in the coming year.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Enik Ermawati or Ni Luh Puspa, also expressed her appreciation for the Pengrupukan Festival which was welcomed enthusiastically by the community. She emphasized that the festival would have a positive impact on the community and the tourism sector in Buleleng Regency. “Festivals are one of the effective ways to attract tourists to a region,” she said. He also supported the Buleleng Regent's plan to expand the festival to all traditional villages in the regency. According to him, the festival opens up opportunities for collaboration in supporting government programs in the tourism sector to revive the national economy. The concept of quality and sustainable tourism is key to cultural preservation and future development.

The Pengrupukan Festival was officially opened with the beating of “tektekan” and the raising of ogoh-ogoh together, marking the start of a celebration full of spirit and togetherness for the people of Buleleng.
