Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Banyupoh Village, Gerokgak District, an important meeting was held to protect the distinctive cultural product Batu Pulaki Buleleng, one of the cultural heritages that needs to be preserved.
The Buleleng Regency Tourism Office together with the Banyupoh Village Government initiated the formation of the Batu Pulaki Buleleng Geographical Indication Protection Community Group. The meeting was attended by the Head of Gerokgak Sub-District, representatives from the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (Brida) of Buleleng Regency, and the Buleleng Regency Cooperative Industry and Trade Office.
During the meeting, the Head of the Buleleng Regency Tourism Office, Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, S.Sos., M.Si, accompanied by Dr. I Nyoman Miarta Putra, S.Ag., M.Ag., and the technical review team, Ida Bagus Putu Eka Suadnyana, provided briefings to the community groups. It is expected that the community can package Batu Pulaki products with distinctive characteristics that can prevent product imitation. In addition, this product will continue to be developed to have a premium value and open up opportunities to create derivative products, such as sculptures or accessories, to increase added value for the community.
The problem faced today is that there are many similar products that threaten the uniqueness of Batu Pulaki Buleleng, which is the distinctive identity of Banyupoh Village. Therefore, patent registration is urgently needed to protect the authenticity and cultural value of this product.
